#inizio/ #BEGINNING #artintowna cura di @studiopivot L'arte attraverso i vostri occhi #artintown #universe #inizio #stars Credits: @thehubblescope ・・・ NGC 7023: Iris Nebula . "So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs." . These clouds of interstellar dust and gas have blossomed 1,300 light-years away in the fertile star fields of the constellation Cepheus. Sometimes called the Iris Nebula, NGC 7023 is not the only nebula in the sky to evoke the imagery of flowers, though. Still, this deep telescopic view shows off the Iris Nebula's range of colors and symmetries in impressive detail. Within the Iris, dusty nebular material surrounds a hot, young star. The dominant color of the brighter reflection nebula is blue, characteristic of dust grains reflecting starlight. Central filaments of the dusty clouds glow with a faint reddish photoluminesence as some dust grainseffectively convert the star's invisible ultraviolet radiation to visible red light. Infrared observations indicate that this nebula may contain complex carbon molecules known as PAHs. The pretty blue petals of the Iris Nebula span about six light-years. . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst

Angel Nebula . "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt." . The combined light of stars along the Milky Way are reflected by these cosmic dust clouds that soar some 300 light-years or so above the plane of our galaxy. Dubbed the Angel Nebula, the faint apparition is part of an expansive complex of dim and relatively unexplored, diffuse molecular clouds. Commonly found at high galactic latitudes, the dusty galactic cirrus can be traced over large regions toward the North and South Galactic poles. Along with the refection of starlight, studies indicate the dust clouds produce a faint reddishluminescence, as interstellar dust grains convert invisible ultraviolet radiation to visible red light. Also capturing nearby Milky Way stars and an array of distant background galaxies, the deep, wide-field 3x5 degree image spans about 10 Full Moons across planet Earth's sky toward the constellation Ursa Major. . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst

@Regrann from @thehubblescope: NGC 6872: Stretched Spiral Galaxy . "For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens." . What makes this spiral galaxy so long? Measuring over 700,000 light years across from top to bottom, NGC 6872, also known as the Condor galaxy, is one of the most elongated barred spiral galaxies known. The galaxy's protracted shape likely results from its continuing collision with the smaller galaxy IC 4970, visible just above center. Of particular interest is NGC 6872's spiral arm on the upper left, as pictured here, which exhibits an unusually high amount of blue star forming regions. The light we see today left these colliding giants before the days of the dinosaurs, about 300 million years ago. NGC 6872 is visible with a small telescope toward the constellation of the Peacock (Pavo). . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst

NGC: 1333 . "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." . NGC 1333 is seen in visible light as a reflection nebula, dominated by bluish hues characteristic of starlight reflected by dust. A mere 1,000 light-years distant toward the heroic constellation Perseus, it lies at the edge of a large, star-forming molecular cloud. This striking close-up view spans about two full moons on the sky or just over 15 light-years at the estimated distance of NGC 1333. It shows details of the dusty region along with hints of contrasting red emission from Herbig-Haro objects, jets and shocked glowing gas emanating from recently formed stars. In fact, NGC 1333 contains hundreds of stars less than a million years old, most still hidden from optical telescopes by the pervasive stardust. . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst #photography #astrophysics #solarsystem #nebula #follow

Good night friends! Buenas noches amigos! The cosmos are a vast expanse of wonder... Like monsters hiding under your bed... monster black holes sometimes lurk behind gas and dust, hiding from the gaze of most telescopes. But they give themselves away when material they feed on emits high-energy X-rays that our NuSTAR mission can detect. That's how NuSTAR recently identified two gas-enshrouded supermassive black holes, located at the centers of nearby galaxies. NGC 1448, a galaxy with an active galactic nucleus hidden by gas and dust, is seen in this image. @Regrann from @nasa - The beautiful spiral galaxy visible in the center of the image is in the Virgo constellation and imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope. It presents an interesting puzzle. At first glance, this galaxy appears to be a normal spiral galaxy, much like the Milky Way, but first appearances can be deceptive! The Milky Way galaxy, like most large galaxies, has a supermassive black hole at its center, but some galaxies are centered on lighter, intermediate-mass black holes. This is such a galaxy - in fact, it is centered on one of the lowest black hole masses known in any luminous galactic core. What puzzles scientists about this particular galaxy is that the calculations don't add up. With such a relatively low mass for the central black hole, models for the emission from the object cannot explain the observed spectrum. There must be other mechanisms at play in the interactions between the inner and outer parts of the accretion disk surrounding the black hole. #repost@nasa That's no moon... oh wait, yes it is. It's Saturn's moon Mimas and it's large Herschel Crater. Shadows cast across the moon, provide an indication of the size of the crater's towering walls and central peak. Named after the icy moon's discoverer, astronomer William Herschel, the crater stretches 86 miles (139 kilometers) wide -- almost one-third of the diameter of Mimas (246 miles or 396 kilometers) itself. Large impact craters often have peaks in their center. Herschel's peak stands nearly as tall as Mount Everest on Earth.
