View ninaijere's Instagram I'm a firm believer that #entrepreneurship is very essential in the development of any economy and must be encouraged especially in developing countries.

In 2013, I was delighted to participate in this event among these powerhouse business men and women making waves in Africa and beyond. I'm looking forward to more projects unfolding in Africa to empower budding and aspiring entrepreneurs. #InvestInAfrica

View ccrossignol's Instagram I meet a lot of entrepreneurs from all walks of life, with a variety of passions. In Sierra Leone, everyone is an entrepreneur, not necessarily because they want to be but because they have to be. I met this young lady on my travels. We were half way between the country capital, Freetown and the village of Golu. We had just come from a business accelerator event and we're dressed in business clothing. We stopped for a bathroom break at the Moyamba junction. I'm in high heels and a dress, my business partner is dressed similarily. We get out of the car and it's like this sweet angel knew we needed to pee. There are no buildings at the junction just huts made of metal siding and brush. My partner says a few words in krio to her, enough that she understood. She signals for us to follow her. We walk through this busy junction totally standing out like a sore thumb but I'm not scared or threatened. I embrace the journey yet I have no idea where I'm being guided to. We are taken to, what I suspect to be her house. An elderly man passes us a lota pot with water. Something the Muslims typically use to wash themselves and theirs hands when using the bathroom. However, at this time I don't know what this is for. She takes us to the back of her house. There is a structure with no roof, metal sheet and leaf siding and she asks if we want her to come in with us. We decline because we figure we have it from here. We move a metal sheet that acts as a door and there is a hole in the ground. This was my first experience peeing in a hole. We used the lota pot to wash our hands afterward and then hand it back to the elder man. We hand him, this young lady and another elderly woman some Leone's for their hospitality. My point is, she couldn't have been more than 14 and she spotted an opportunity and seized it. A true entrepreneur! I just love this country 💙🇸🇱💚·#womenphotograph #traveldocumentary #storytelling #globalcitizen #economicsustainability #culture #documentaryphotography #sierraleone #allwhatsbeautiful #exploretocreate #peopleoftheworld #portraitsmag #portraitphotography #peoplescreative #pursuitofportraits #portraitmood #entrepreneur #africanentrepreneurs 1456025310210233390_506980541
