We love this out-of-this-world shot of astronaut Mike Hopkins. It looks like a selfie, but was taken by fellow astronaut Rick Mastracchio.

#repost@thehubblescope (@get_repost) ・・・ Galaxy On Edge . "Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits." . Is our Galaxy this thin? We believe so. Magnificent spiral galaxy NGC 4565 is viewed edge-on from planet Earth. Also known as the Needle Galaxy for its narrow profile, bright NGC 4565 is a stop on many telescopic tours of the northern sky, in the faint but well-groomed constellation Coma Berenices. This sharp, colorful image reveals the galaxy's bulging central core cut by obscuring dust lanes that lace NGC 4565's thin galactic plane. An assortment of other background galaxies is included in the pretty field of view, with neighboring galaxy NGC 4562 at the upper left. NGC 4565 itself lies about 40 million light-years distant and spans some 100,000 light-years. Easily spotted with small telescopes, sky enthusiasts consider NGC 4565 to be a prominent celestial masterpiece Messier missed. . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst #brahmandpdpu

#whereisthesun😔😔☔☔☔ #sobeautiful☀🌞🌌☁🌈🌈 #haveagoodday❤😘 #repost@nasa ・・・ Stretched Loops: When an active region rotated over to the edge of the sun, it presented us with a nice profile view of its elongated loops stretching and swaying above it (March 8/9, 2017). These loops are actually charged particles (made visible in extreme ultraviolet light) swirling along the magnetic field lines of the active region. The video covers about 30 hours of activity. Also of note is a darker twisting mass of plasma to the left of the active region being pulled and spun about by magnetic forces. #repost@europeanspaceagency • #fomalhautis one of the brightest stars in the sky. ☄☄ At roughly 25 light-years away the star lies especially close to us, and can be seen shining brightly in the constellation of  #piscisAustrinus (The Southern Fish). Fomalhaut’s disc comprises a mix of cosmic #dust and gas from #cometsin the Fomalhaut system (exocomets), released as the exocomets graze past and smash into one another. This turbulent environment resembles an early period in our own Solar System known as the Late Heavy Bombardment, which occurred approximately four billions years ago. This era saw huge numbers of rocky objects hurtle into the inner Solar System and collide with the young terrestrial planets, including Earth, where they formed a myriad of impact craters — many of which remain visible today on the surfaces of planets such as Mercury and Mars. Fomalhaut is known to be surrounded by several discs of debris — the one visible in this ALMA image is the outermost one. The ring is approximately 20 billion kilometers from the central star and about 2 billion kilometers wide. Such a relative narrow, eccentric disc can only be produced by the gravitational influence of planets in the system, like Jupiter’s gravitational influence on our asteroid belt. In 2008 the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope discovered the famous exoplanet Fomalhaut b orbiting within this belt, but the planet is not visible in this ALMA image. Credit: ALMA (ESO/NAOJ/NRAO)/L. #🔁 ・・・ Supermoon is a spectacular sight! The upcoming supermoon - on Monday, Nov. 14 - will be especially "super" because it's the closest full moon to Earth since 1948. We won't see another supermoon like this until 2034. The moon's orbit around Earth is slightly elliptical so sometimes it is closer and sometimes it's farther away. When the moon is full as it makes its closest pass to Earth it is known as a supermoon. At perigree - the point at which the moon is closest to Earth - the moon can be as much as 14 percent closer to Earth than at apogee, when the moon is farthest from our planet. The full moon appears that much larger in diameter and because it is larger shines 30 percent more moonlight onto the Earth. The biggest and brightest moon for observers in the United States will be on Monday morning just before dawn. On Monday, Nov. 14, the moon is at perigee at 6:22 a.m. EST and "opposite" the sun for the full moon at 8:52 a.m. EST (after moonset for most of the US). So, go out at night on either Sunday or Monday night to see the supermoon! #nasa #space #moon #supermoon #earth #nasabeyond #astronomy #fullmoon #science Double tap and tag 3 friends Follow for more Astronomy content [email protected] Here my bio link 👆 #astronomy #astronomygift #descriptive #calendar #salary #beauty #ukastronomy #stem #articles #hubble

regram @thehubblescope Sh2-188 . "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." . Sharpless object 188 Natural color composition from the emission of ionized elements, R=80%Hydrogen+20%Sulfur, G=100%Oxygen and B=85%Oxygen+15%Hydrogen to compensate otherwise missing H-beta emission. This composition is very close to a visual spectrum. Sh2-188, PNG128.0-4.1, in constellation Cassiopeia. An asymmetrical planetary nebula was first photographed in 1965, it thought to be a Supernova remnant due its crescent like shape, now it's known to be  a Planetary Nebula.  Distance from Oulu, Finland, is ~850 light years. Apparent diameter is ~5 arcmin. . #amazing #astronomy #beauty #chandra #bible #bibletext #nasabeyond #constellation #creation #galaxy #hubble #hubbletelescope #interstellar #nature #nasa #cosmos #hubblehangout #space #universe #scripture #naturelovers #cosmology #science #hst
